Anna Wassman was about three months away from graduation when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Being here at Loyola and actually graduating on time was one of my biggest goals that I set for myself, and I think that's what got my through my diagnosis and the beginning parts of going through breast cancer treatment," she said.

Before my diagnosis, life was always busy. I did ballet professionally at the Joffrey, and then I went back to school at Loyola. I was also working full time. I was in really good health, exercising a lot, and eating healthy. My breast cancer diagnosis was definitely unexpected and terrible timing, but I think these things usually are.

After discussing next steps with her doctor, she learned that cancer treatment could impact her ability to have a family. At 25, she hadn’t yet considered starting a family but knew that she at least wanted to have the option of biological children in the future.
